Grants for Home Buying
Grants for home buying come in many forms. Grants are used to encourage people, especially first time buyers, to buy homes in particular neighborhoods in your local area. It is beneficial to have "owner-occupants" in a neighborhood to help stabilize the area. When there are too many rental homes in an area generally the people who live there are more transient in nature and they don't take care of their properties or watch out for their neighbors like owner-occupants do. Grants, and income tax credits, also are available for energy related home improvements such as more energy efficient heating systems, insulation or storm windows.Grants for buying a home may be used for down payments, closing costs and more as described in more detail in the section, "Home Buying Grants". Money may also be available for home improvement grants and home repair grants, as discussed in the section, "Home Repair Grants". There also may be special home buyer assistance and home buying programs available as well. See the section, "Home Buying Programs".
